Communications Training for Motovila – Creative Europe Desk Slovenia
The Brief
We recently facilitated an online professional development session with Motovila, Slovenia’s Creative Europe Desk, bringing the team together for a dedicated moment to reflect on their communications: what was working, what were the challenges emerging, and what they could do differently.
Our session Communications Toolkit for Cultural Organisations was designed around the realities of small and medium-sized cultural organisations, where limited time and capacity often mean that strategic thinking, content creation and day-to-day delivery are happening at the same time.
What We Explored
Throughout the session, we moved between communications strategy and practical implementation, exploring four key areas:
- The communications essentials for small and medium-sized cultural organisations.
- Crafting messaging & storytelling that deeply connects with audiences.
- Content planning & creation, and how to turn ideas into consistent, purposeful content.
- Communication campaigns, exploring practical processes and frameworks to plan and deliver them effectively.
Our Approach
Rather than approaching the session as a general communications training, we created space for the Motovila team to apply different frameworks and ideas directly to their own work.
The session was designed based on a customized survey answered by the team, allowing Diagonal to gather their challenges, needs and goals for the session.
With Motovila, we created space to pause and reflect. When communications teams are constantly moving between campaigns, newsletters, social media, events and everything else that needs to go out, finding structured time to collectively examine how they work can be valuable in itself.
What They Took Away
The session gave the team an opportunity to identify both the stronger elements of their existing communications and areas they could continue developing, while leaving with practical frameworks they could apply beyond the workshop.
They also highlighted the value of identifying both the “cracks and shining parts” in their communications, having a practical framework to think about and address them.
Session Feedback
“Within the time we had, we managed to (re)discover several crucial aspects of our communication and look at them from a different perspective. Your questions and guidance helped us step back from being so deeply involved in the process and take a closer look at how we communicate and work together. It was really spot on.” – Sabina Briski (Motovila / Creative Europe Desk Slovenia).
